Marrying My Love for Fine Art and Giving Back
(L to R) Me with Suzanne Wilson and Julie White at the Wink Art Show benefitting Brookstone.
It is nice to be able to use your skills to help a good cause. Back in 2009 I decided to donate my graphic design/marketing skills to benefit Brookstone Schools. That is when I met Suzanne Wilson, one of the founders, and we forged a lasting friendship. For years I was able to design their promotional materials. But once I hung up that shingle and began painting, I was searching for another way to give back.
This fall Julie White and I hosted the first Wink Art Show. Heartfelt thanks to the 20+ contributing artists for offering their unique and beautiful work.
And thanks to all of you who came and purchased this artwork- oil, pastel, watercolor, ceramics, jewelry, leather, iron, collage, fabric. What a beautiful mix. Something for everyone. We were able to raise over $15,000, as well as awareness for this private Christian School in uptown Charlotte. Our hearts are full.
A BIG THANK YOU to all the artists who contributed. If you know them, please thank them.
Allison Chambers, Amanda Grigg, Becca Shell, Erin White, Eloise Gamble, Josie Cross, Shannon Woodford, Greg Barnes, Lesley Powell, Libby Smart, Laine Francis, Liz Orvos, Paula Brown, Nicole Arendale, Marlise Newman, Martha Serenius, Mary Russell, Vanessa Thorman, Donna Murphy, Paul Jenkins, Julie White and myself.
Offering grades JK-8, Brookstone Schools in uptown, serves a under-resourced population.
Always Growing and Learning
Even though I teach painting, I also enjoy learning. This summer I was able to take from two well known women, Stephanie Hartshorn from Denver, Colorado and Dee Beard Dean from Johns Island, SC. Both artists taught workshops at Seabrook Island through the SIAG (Seabrook Island Artists Guild.) Greg Barnes, from Charlotte, will be teaching there this January, 2025. If you are interested in taking a painting class from me in Charlotte in 2025, send me reply to this email with your information.
As the Holidays Approach, Put Cotswold Marketplace on Your Shopping Stops
For art, rugs, home furnishings, clothes, plants, jewelry, lamps, bedding and so much more, stop by Cotswold Marketplace! The staff could not be nicer and you are sure to leave with unique gifts.
Creative Gift Giving
I am finishing up commissions for the holidays, but if you are wishing you had thought of asking earlier, I have some creative ideas. Just email me and we can craft a gift idea. When this father of 4 wanted to give his wife an anniversary gift of a Love Nest painting, we wrapped up a real bird's nest and a promise. His anniversary was days away :)
After their trip, they all 6 came back to pick up their painting! So sweet.
As The Months Fly By...So Much to Celebrate
My sister, Kim and I celebrated her birthday with a trip to Charleston. My baby, Eryn, turned 30. How can that be? And my grand baby girl, turned one. Such happiness.
